My name is Patricia Díaz. I've been teaching Spanish and English as second languages since 2004 and I've worked as a professional translator for the last 7 years.
I studied to become a teacher of Spanish and English philology at the National University of Salta in Argentina. My academic training was also on the different varieties of the Spanish language across the world.
So, whether you’re interested in learning Spanish from Argentina, Mexico, Spain or any other Spanish speaking country, I can help you achieve this goal with outstanding results.
I'm an excellent tutor. There is no better reference than the feedback I’ve gotten from my students along the years.
I have a native level of English while Spanish is my mother tongue. I also know some French, German and I'm currently studying Dutch. Learning languages has given me the opportunity to have the "student perspective" which has made me a much better teacher. I am able to understand my students' needs, confusions, and frustrations as my own and from there build new methods of instruction that aid in the construction of new knowledge.
I've never taught the same course twice. I tailor every single one of my courses to the requirements and needs of each student, from the planning to the actual teaching, creating new material every time it is needed.
My patience knows no limits and I pride myself in being able to find hundreds of ways of explaining difficult/complex topics.
I'm a highly committed, responsible and professional person, eager to learn and in permanent training. I can make Spanish lessons especially for you, according to your knowledge, needs and interests.
When you take classes with me, you don’t need to buy expensive books that may or may not be suitable for you. I will provide you with custom-made study material perfectly adapted to your level and needs.

your Spanish classes?
We can make your wishes come true.
...Spanish is spoken by over 500 million people around the world?
...Spanish is the second most studied language in the world?
...Spanish is one of the easiest languages to learn for Dutch speakers who also know English ? According to the experts, it’ll take you around 22-24 weeks to achieve what is called general professional proficiency in reading and speaking.
...the United States has 45 million people who speak Spanish as their first, second or heritage language? By 2050 it will become the largest Spanish speaking country in the world!
...after Latin, the language with the most historical influence on Spanish has been Arabic?
...some countries use the term “español” and others prefer “ castellano” to refer to Spanish? Both terms are used for Spanish because they are synonyms, but “español” is less ambiguous; so it's preferable to use it for “Spanish” and leave “Castellano” for the Spanish spoken in the area of Castilla.
...accent marks are used in Spanish for two different purposes? To show where emphasis falls on a word when it is pronounced, and to help differentiate between identically-spelled words, for example, camino (way, road) and caminó (past tense for caminar-walk). They are only used above vowels (á, é, í, ó, ú).
...“e” is the most used letter in Spanish with 16%, while “w” is the least used, with only 0.01%? The most used word in Spanish is the preposition “de”, and the largest word in Spanish, with 25 letters, is esternocleidomastoiditis, but this is a medical term barely used outside this specific context. The 24-letter word electroencefalografistas is often cited as the longest Spanish word.
I had the pleasure to learn from Patricia for many months and I believe she is fantastic! Patricia was always timely, warm and very friendly and always extremely well prepared. My level of Spanish was late beginner when we started and Patricia was able to guide me and challenge me to, I think, a solid intermediate level. Patricia was very dedicated and very mindful of my particular level and of my needs.
She shows tremendous patience and is always at the ready with a gentle correction and smile. I cannot imagine a better teacher of Spanish than Patricia! I would very highly recommend her without reservation.Greg Dewald, USA
Patricia tutored me in Spanish. She is very professional and sent me an upfront test to know my level of Spanish and the status quo we will start at. She tailored material to my needs and did a great job in giving me the basics I need to speak the language. I can recommend her to everyone who wants to learn Spanish, she is highly skilled, professional and a great person. Muchas Gracias!Niklas Brinkman, Germany
I have followed a fourty hours private course given by Patricia Diaz. And it greatly helped me to get along in Southamerica, to find my ways, to find what I would like to eat and more... I appreciate the lightness with which she tought me the basics of Spanish - a lightness that can only live through somebody’s love for a language. A love that can only grow when on is taught with love. And it happened that I fell in love.Aite Tinga, Switzerland
As visiting Argentina during our stay we found ourselves in Salta. One of our purposes was to learn Spanish in a Spanish speaking country. My wife and I (56 years old) followed lessons at Patricia’s home. We confirm the excellent method applied by the school. We are impressed about the progress we could make during such a short time.
After seven days we are able to understand most of phrases spoken by people which we met in restaurants, hotels and the street. Summering, we achieved a profound basis of grammar and many expressions in Spanish.Angelika and Albert Schäfer, Germany
Patricia is a great teacher. She is the best at what she does. I’ve found a knowledgeable professional and a friend as well. I took her classes some time ago, for three months, and it was fantastic! I am a native Spanish speaker, but I have always wanted to learn English. So, all my English improvement has been thanks to her teaching! Patricia’s classes have been essential for knowing not only the English properties as a language but also the contextual knowledge of the English culture.
How could I have understood so many things of my favourite TV series without my dear Pato? Lately, I've been travelling and what I’ve learned has been very useful to me. Pato, I have to tell you something… I think I should take some classes with you again, through Skype this time!Diego Rodriguez, Argentina
I just finished one week survival course with Patricia. I surely enjoy it. It was “a lot” of studying involved! In my notebook there are many useful phrases, words, etc. I’ll definitely use them on my trip. Very detailed and concentrated, and very personal. I wish I could keep going… If I have chance to come this country again. I’ll definitely be in Salta and want to take classes again. Thank you very much!Machiko Briggs, Japan
One of the attributes that makes Patricia an outstanding teacher is her patient, positive and warm attitude. Her confidence that you can and will speak Spanish never wavered, even though I still question my ability to ever speak. It help me from giving up. With only 20 hours, I do not think anyone could have done more.
I specially thank her for finding a way to apply what I learn to a political brochure full of “issues of interest” to me, and full of verbs! (+ I liked the Güemes song) Thank you Patricia.Lauri Hunter, USA
Patricia is my sweet teacher. She knows how to take your potential with excellent teaching techniques. Thanks to her, I not only learned the best poems of Edgar Allan Poe, but I have also improved the pronunciation of difficult words. With Patricia I discovered, in addition to the best lessons in English, subject of current impact, such as the environment, politics, and human rights. Thanks for your beautiful classes. I miss you!Juan Martín Paredes, Argentina
